Commenting on Alvin Plummer's Borlund paper:

I think the population level B, which we would naturally extrapolate
to mean "hundreds of billions," is a mistake on the part of the stats
makers of Deneb Sector. It's always defied reality that such a
scenario could occur. The Regency Sourcebook seems to bear me out on
this since it appears GDW's changed all "B-level" populations to more
     realistic "A"s.

I remember when I decided to run a Regency campaign that the first
thing I did was look up the stats of Deneb itself. When I saw the
level-B population with the "1" modifier, indicating 100 billion
inhabitants, I decided it must've been an error on the part of the
statistician and determined that Deneb had only 10 billion inhabitants
instead. I'm happy to see that GDW has put a more realistic spin on
     this by fixing these stats.

My apologies for posting this to the list.

How can I get the list message-by-message and not as a digest?

Hi,
here you go:

To change to immediate messages instead of digests send a message to
listproc@mpgn.com and in the body:

   set traveller mail noack or
   set traveller mail ack

The first form, NOACK will not send your submissions back to you. The
second form, ACK will acknowledge your submissions. If you wish to return
to digest mode later, send the command to listproc@mpgn.com:

   set traveller mail digest

Subject: Regancy vs Zhodani...
Message-ID: <199510030337.UAA27107@holonet.net>

I have been reading the argument over The Zho's non attack of the
Regency...
I suspect that there is a faction on the Qlomdlabr, the High Council that
wants to do that, but There is a moderate group that thinks trade and,
corrupting ( Wap! Oww ok jim I'll be good ), changing the regancy over
time.
Then there is a group that is in the middle.
There are some good reasions for the reluctance for the absorbance of
the Regancy.
1) a Military take over even if successful would entail now dealing with
a Lot A WHOLE LOT of very uncoperative worlds and their peoples, most of
whom would fight to practically the last Sophant!

2) The cost in money and to the econimy would be incredible.

3) They seem to have run into a problem, that is taxing their military
already.

4) ( and this is conjecture on my part and I will probably make it a part
of my universe ), It is known, ( only to a very few in the Regancy, and
belived by fewer still, about six. ), that there is an anchients
artifact that is held and cunsulted, which showes the future maybe they
have seen something??? Can you say a Regancy, Zhodani, combined
operation somewhere tword the core??? I have been toying with this idea
for a while now. Someday I'll write it up and try it with some of the
players! )

Ok Ok Ive ventured these opinions before, before you Flame, think about it...
;-)

I mentioned it as an idea to explain the lack of expansion of the Zho, Solomani
and others. There is no mention of this officially in Traveller, but since GDW
is never likely to detail the fringes beyond the Imperium, it would be a good
way to run some dramatic adventures where players can have a major impact,
without any danger of contradicting the official storyline.

I've always had a soft spot for the Balduris, so I'll give detailing
the Baldur system a try. If there are any Chemists on the list, criticism
of my attempts at a Fluid ocean and an exotic atmosphere would be appreciated.

At the moment I'm thinking of having a high percentage of Chlorine in the
atmosphere, weather processes (lightning) giving rise to some HCL, though in
small, dilute amounts. The ocean will have quite a chlorine taint, and sulphur
from underwater volcanoes and vents, but be composed largely of H2O.
